Small chips vs. running cracks
A small chip can sometimes be stabilized. A crack that runs to the edge usually means the pane needs replacing.
Foggy double-pane windows
Fog between the panes means the seal failed. The glass unit can often be replaced without replacing the whole frame.
Make it safe now
Tape both sides of the crack with clear packing tape, keep kids and pets away, and don't press on the glass.
